Philosophy
Return counselling is offered in many different ways and regions in Europe – from high quality counselling offered by trained AVRR counsellors with access to lots of organizational and financial resources to almost non-existent counselling. We believe that every third country national, who seeks or sought asylum in Europe and is interested in voluntary return, should have access to similar high quality counselling. With this project, we offer free training for return counsellors from all over Europe discussing relevant topics helpful for their daily work.
We also believe that we can learn and benefit from each other. Many European countries have developed their own counselling systems with different counselling approaches. By sharing knowledge and best practices with each other and learning together, we can use synergies and avoid wasting resources and time. So come and join us in our next event!

History
The idea for the Transnational Exchange project was born in 2010 when the staff of the Central Return Counselling Office Southern Bavaria thought of the idea of bringing European AVRR counsellors together to discuss their work. After the mapping of different actors of the European NGO return counselling field, a first conference was organized. This was the start of the Transnational Exchange project, which has enabled the exchange amongst hundreds of European AVRR counsellors ever since.
